EPIC
LOYALIST EX-PRISONERS N. IRELAND CONFLICT |
Awareness is a necessary area of EPIC's work. During most years of the violent conflict that existed in N. Ireland the loyalist voice of pain, anguish, anger, and hope was generally confined to our community of origin. Now we want the world to understand our humanity, its blemishes, but notably our commitment to healing the pain and trauma of violent conflict and the barriers, issues, to dignified civilian existence. Since EPIC's crystallisation its staff have engaged with all sections of the N. Ireland community through private dialogue, fora representation, media debate and interview, and interest group presentations. Our members have participated in international exchanges with other ex-combatants from conflict zones around the world, sharing experiences, learning and teaching of creative ways of conflict transformation and addressing the legacies of violent conflict. EPIC staff have pushed the frontiers of understanding, widened blinkered views of victimisation Key Benefits
