COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT EPIC supports community development right across N. Ireland by forming, enabling and empowering groups to avail of their own human resources. Part of this process involves identifying political ex-prisoners to train in participatory development techniques and for them, with support from EPIC staff, to build the capacity within their local community to address its needs. It is a reality in our society that political ex-prisoners carry with them a mantle of local influence. With this harnessed and directed towards community development ex-prisoners can not only reintegrate more fully within their community but can also be a resource for their community of origin and beyond. Up to now political ex-prisoners from EPIC's client base have been involved in: Youth Intervention, Housing concerns, Welfare Rights, Human Rights, Economic Development, Political Development, Social Development, Education Programmes, Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Cross Community Development, addressing Conflict Trauma, Community Consultancy, International Exchanges, and facilitating ad hoc meetings.
